"Goonies" Poster
2011
Graphic Design, Typography
Commissioned to promote a public movie event, this poster needed to hint at the film being shown (The Goonies) without actually using the title.
- Cambridge Arts Council Movie Night Poster
- This 14 x 26 poster was commissioned by the East Cambridge Business Association to advertise their upcoming public showing of the classic film, "The Goonies." Since they were unable to actually use the title of the movie on the poster, my goal was to develop a design that implies the movie's identity by depicting imagery that people would associate with The Goonies.

- To help suggest the Goonies without using the title, I mimicked the recognizable type treatment from the original movie poster. I realized I didn't even have to change most of the letters from the original title to tie it in with the poster headline.

- I knew I wanted to somehow include a skull motif which is not only representative of the skeleton of One-eye Willie the boys find towards the end of the film, but also implies adventure / pirate themes in general. The other iconic element from the movie is the treasure ship found in the underground cavern, which I integrated as part of the skull.
